2016 is the year Ireland celebrates the centenary of the Easter Rising when they declared their independence – Historical Reflections. This centenary is a chance to reflect on all that has happened, and to celebrate all that has been achieved, in Ireland by the Irish people in the last one hundred years. They will celebrate their centenary with a weekend of “Bringing Ireland to Penang” and will provide an opportunity to bring all of the Penang/Malaysia communities together.
The event will also help to promote Penang and Malaysia on the world map. St Patrick’s Ball in Penang is renowned for its warmth and convivial atmosphere, which promotes great friendships and networking opportunities amongst the Irish, the international and Penang communities.
In addition to that, St. Patrick’s Street Parade will feature some historical reflections and they are involving other nationalities that were part of their history to play their roles where the French community will play the role of The French Revolution and the Danes will play the Vikings. Therefore, the Parade will bring many international communities together.
