The new Penang Apprenticeship Programme for Artisans (PAP), whose mission is to train craftspeople to keep alive otherwise-dying traditional trades, begins its first workshop this weekend. The Rattan Weaving Workshop will be held this Sunday 3rd, and on the two following Sundays. Alternatively, have some fun and do some good at the Cork Magnet Workshop on Saturday 2nd. Here you will learn how to grow plants on a cork, with proceeds from the event supporting children with learning difficulties.
On Wednesday 6th, there is a Celebration of Early Music at which music from Bach, Handel, Scarlatti and Purcell will be performed on harpsichord and viola de gamba by the Pro Musica Baroque Ensemble. And on Tuesday 6th, aspiring writers can join Penang Writers Reading, to hear authors read excerpts of their work.
