A tertiary qualification is not a barometer of success; what’s most important is being able to share acquired knowledge.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said youths need to be aware that getting a scroll is not everything in life.
“In university, knowledge may be a tool for success but in reality, the knowledge and moral values obtained could play a pivotal role for self-development.
“Amidst the current Industrial Revolution 4.0, they must be able to plan their future path well.
“This will help them face any obstacles in the future,” he said in his speech before launching the ‘Youth for Future’ event and discussion at Royale Chulan Hotel in Weld Quay today.
The ‘Youth for Future’ initiative comes under the Youth and Sports portfolio.
Present, state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said youths in the state can help spur its development and this is an integral part of nation building.
“That’s why we come out with the ‘Youth for Future’ initiative to help contribute to the nation’s development,” he added.
According to Soon, it would encourage more youth participation in the activities held and create more job prospects for them.
During the event, an energetic Jocelyn Lee mesmerised those present with a song titled ‘Melangkah’, which means ‘Moving Forward’.
Also present were Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) general manager Thoy Siew Ping, panelists Dr Moktaruddin Ahmad, Christinna Kuan, Clement Chau, Yeap Siew Ching and state assemblymen.
