Malaysia Day is celebrated on 16 September every year to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysian federation .It is a significant date in the history of Malaysia as it marks the joining together of Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore to form Malaysia in 1963. Malaysia Day is a public holiday in Penang.
This year, the Penang State Government will be organizing a Malaysia Day Celebration on the 16 September (Tuesday) at Fort Cornwallis. The celebration will start at 7.30pm.
This grand celebration will be graced by T.Y.T Tun Dato’ Seri Utama (Dr) Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abbas, Yang Dipertua Negeri Pulau Pinang and Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Lim Guan Eng.
There will be various cultural performances including Penang’s very own Boria showcase, ethnic dance from Sabah and Sarawak and a special Gamelan performance.
There will also be a firework showcase at 10pm.
