The Penang World Music Festival (PWMF 2015) will be returning on the 11th & 12th of April 2015. The festival has been organized by the Penang State Tourism since 2012. For the very first time this year, the festival will be held at the center of our UNESCO Heritage City; the Esplanade.
Enjoy stellar performances by 12 international musicians ; Dizu Plaatjies from South Africa, Prem Joshua from India, Razon De Son from Spain, Casuarina from Brazil, Annuluk from Germany, Ajinai from Mongolia, Gus Teja World Music from Bali, Vedan Kolod from Russia, Trad Attack from Estonia, Raggy Project and Nading Rhapsody from Malaysia.
Listen to musical stories from the four corners of the world. Marvel at the fusion of historic and contemporary, right in our UNESCO Heritage City.Enrich your musical experience with workshops by our invited artists. Explore their experience, sate your curiosity and learn musical technique. There’s something for everyone at the PWMF2015 !
The night concert will start from 6pm to 12 midnight. Each day there will be 6 different bands. Festival goers can also join the workshops conducted by the musicians during the day, from 2pm- 5pm. The workshops will be held at Fort Cornwallis on 11 & 12 April.
In addition to that, there will also be “Preview Shows” on the 9th April at Gurney Paragon and 10th April at Queensbay Mall. The Preview Shows will feature Annuluk from Germany, Trad Attack from Estonia and Gus Teja World Music from Bali. The show starts at 7.30pm and will give visitors a chance to see a gist of the band’s performance on the festival days.
The tickets to the festival are priced at at RM80 for a One-Day Pass and RM140 for Two-Day Pass. Student passes are also available for RM60.Tickets can be purchased online from www.ticketcharge.com.my,KOMTAR information kiosk at Ground Floor (Beside Maybank ) and Queensbay Mall, North Zone Kiosk (beside escalator). The Komtar kiosk will be opened from Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm .The Queensbay Mall Kiosk will be opened from daily from 12pm-7pm.
There is a very Special Promotion until 5 April whereby Penang World Music Festival tickets purchased from KOMTAR and Queensbay Mall are entitled to a Free participation in the Penang Bridge International Marathon 2015 on the 22 November 2015 and also transferable. Participants can choose any categories and register online and inform us at info@penangmarathon.gov.my and we will waive the registration fees.
